(Masafer Yatta is the region whose endless suffering is depicted in the Oscar-winning “No Other Land” whose award enraged Israel. No doubt demolishing the village now was particularly joyful as a means of getting back not just at the Palestinians who live in the village but at the Motion Picture Academy and especially the progressive American Jews who constitute a majority of the voters who honored the film!)

Just for a moment, I will not focus on the Gaza genocide per se or the ethnic cleansing of the West Bank. True, all of that is antithetical to Judaism, although not to Zionism.

But add to that the people of Israel’s willingness to sacrifice their sons and daughters for absolutely nothing, except revenge and to keep one demonic man in power. And the hostages: the Israeli government has done everything it could do not to free the hostages but to ensure their deaths so that nothing would stand in the way of the Gaza genocide.

As for eradicating Hamas? How stupid are they? Hamas, which was literally created by Israel so that they would NOT have a negotiating partner, is now a legitimate resistance movement, given legitimacy (despite its abuse of the Palestinian people since its founding and the horrific October 7th massacre of Israeli civilians) by Israel’s actions since October 8th. The legitimacy comes from being the resistance not for anything else. Israel created Hamas and now sustains it.

And the Israeli people are willing to sacrifice their children despite knowing all that.

I cannot imagine anything more stupid and less Jewish.

Except for committing genocide itself.

My only hope is that the good Israeli people (and there are many, maybe a few million) will take to the streets to obstruct the next stage of the “war.” They should do everything they can do not only to stop the killing but to save their children and grandchildren from dying for, again, absolutely nothing. That is what Jews would do? Will Israelis? How can they not?
