I can’t say he was Biden’s worst cabinet member because anyone Biden nominated at State would probably have been as bad as Secretary of State Blinken.
One-sided support for everything Israel does is locked into the DNA of the Democratic party and has been since 1948. But ending by 2026.
By 2026 the post-Gaza effect will be felt and mindlessly Israel-loving Democrats (i.e. most of them) will be on the defensive and, I expect, losing primaries to candidates who do not favor blank checks for genocide. That is unless like Josh Gottheimer, Debbie Wasserman Shultz, and Jared Moskowitz they represent one of the few districts that put Israel first.
No, the worst cabinet member was Merrick Garland who is responsible for Trump’s return to office. Any other likely Biden appointment to DOJ would have nailed Trump which would have been a relatively easy task.
Only the pompously modest and proudly apolitical dotard Merrick Garland would have slow-walked the Trump cases.
For that alone, he deserves the title of not just the worst Cabinet official in the Biden administration but also the most inept and destructive Attorney General in US history. I hope his retirement years truly suck and that diners at fancy DC restaurants hiss when he slithers in.
But back to Secretary of State Blinken who said in yesterday’s Times that he doesn’t understand why there has been so much outrage about what Israel is doing in Gaza and not about Hamas’s crimes. LINK.
Here are his exact words:
One of the things that I found a little astounding throughout is that for all of the understandable criticism of the way Israel has conducted itself in Gaza, you hear virtually nothing from anyone since Oct. 7 about Hamas. Why there hasn’t been a unanimous chorus around the world for Hamas to put down its weapons, to give up the hostages, to surrender — I don’t know what the answer is to that. Israel, on various occasions, has offered safe passage to Hamas’s leadership and fighters out of Gaza. Where is the world? Where is the world, saying, Yeah, do that! End this! Stop the suffering of people that you brought on! Now, again, that doesn’t absolve Israel of its actions in conducting the war. But I do have to question how it is that we haven’t seen a greater sustained condemnation and pressure on Hamas to stop what it started and to end the suffering of people that it initiated.
Words fail. except to note the obvious. The United States supported and paid for Israel’s crimes while it, like every Western country, opposes Hamas and provides it not with one nickel.
Israel is our client (comparable to a renter in a house we own). Israel’s crimes are on us. The US has leverage on Israel, in theory anyway. We have none on Hamas and, it might be added, we have supported blowing it to bits.
Israel’s man at Foggy Bottom knows that; he is just singing a song learned at AIPAC Hasbara Camp For Impressionable Wealthy Youth (who might grow up and take influential positions in the US Government.)
I think Biden knew how to pick 'em..dotards like Blinken who has not produced one single positive outcome from all his high level meetings and many trips. What ever happened by the way to the famous pier built by Biden? Does food go across it to the starving Gazans? My summary of this genocide is that Biden is in full collusion with Bibi for his rail line and resort building in Gaza not to forget access to oil off Gaza's shores. The "stakes" are so juicy there's no denial of the feast to be had by the US and its misguided puppet Israel. Two "tribes" of people have been victimized by Anglo-American policies of domination.
